Your description reminds me of a piece I did. It started out as some figure drawing practice and then insisted on becoming something finished. It's kind of nice when you're on a roll like that.

I adore this character design. What are you inspirations/influences?

thank you!! I just gather a lot from everywhere really, I can't point to all of one thing. Sometimes I make character designs that aren't interesting, sometimes I make some I'm very proud of, like Pavetta.
Wish I could say I had someone I looked up to that had a similar art style, something more macabre like I'd like to have, but none I could point to. I love BLAME! and Ergo Proxy, probably watched/read too much Tim Burton as a kid. Akihiko Yoshida is pretty great as far as character design inspiration goes. I feel like I should take more direct inspiration honestly, but it's hard for me to find since I'm very particular with my taste.
Of course, none of the edgy stuff shows in Pav's design so I think she got lucky being so plain looking lol. You can still see it a bit with how I dress her and how I draw her hair, though.
